Google Business Profile Not Eligible? Learn Why

Have you tried setting up a Google business profile but found you’re not eligible? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered! In this article, we will break down the reasons why some businesses can’t appear on Google.

Google Business Profile Not Eligible

When your Google business profile is not eligible, it means your listing has been suspended due to quality issues as it did not meet Google’s quality guidelines. This can happen for several reasons, as Google aims to provide genuine listings to help consumers find trustworthy businesses.

  1. Using A Virtual Office Address: Google may mark your business as ineligible if the address is flagged as virtual, unless you can prove that you have staff at the location and customers can visit during business hours.
  2. Stuffing Keywords In Your Business Name: Let’s say your legally registered business name is ‘’Fresh Doughnuts’’ but on your Google business profile it’s shown as ‘’Best Fresh Doughnuts" this causes inconsistencies and it’s misleading.
  3. Your Business Information Is Inaccurate: For example if the contact information on your website such as your business address or phone number doesn’t match the details on your Google listing, it could lead to eligibility issues.
  4. Service area businesses (SABs): If you're a service area business, you must specify your service areas accurately. Listing locations you don't serve can result in your business profile being ineligible.

Google flags certain business categories as high risk due to a high volume of spam or fake listings in those sectors. Even if your business is genuine, your profile may still not show up and as a result is ineligible.

  • Dog Training
  • Locksmiths
  • Pest Control
  • HVAC
  • Plumbers

To ensure your business remains eligible make sure your information is up to date, avoid keyword stuffing or using a virtual address and check if your business is listed under the correct category. Take the time to review what went wrong and once you’ve made the necessary changes, you can submit an appeal to Google.
